Greetings from Sierra Leone: Updates from the Mission Team

Hello, Faith Church Family! As you’re reading this, it’s Monday afternoon in Freetown, Sierra Leone. Our team has just completed two incredible gatherings: the very first Youth Retreat (Thursday-Saturday morning) and the annual Missionary Retreat (Saturday-Sunday) at Tokeh Beach Resort.

Meet the Team

Our team includes Matt and Ashley Burger, Gonie Cha-Lee, Morgan Cochrane, Jeff, Amy, Jacob, and Nichole Heeschen. This is Matt and Ashley’s third mission trip here, Jeff and Amy’s second, and a first-time experience for the rest of the team.

Prayers for the Missionaries

Please lift up the missionaries as they return to their fields today. They work across various vocations, from Bible training to healthcare, teaching, and business development. As they leave this retreat feeling renewed, they’ll need strength against any spiritual attacks that may come. Pray they hold fast to the call that brought them to this beautiful country.

Enable the Children Visits

Today, we’re spending time with Anna Vines and her team from Enable the Children as they visit disabled children and their families. This experience is truly humbling and a beautiful opportunity to extend love and dignity to families often marginalized in their communities.

Up-Country in Makeni

This afternoon, we’ll travel three hours to Makeni, where we’ll join missionaries Geoff and Carrie Jo Caine. Carrie Jo is a nurse working on public health initiatives, including infant mortality and cervical cancer surveillance. Our team will be helping train her team on data reporting and possibly participate in field data collection.
