Life Groups

Life Groups

Fred Rogers was known for closing in a unique way when talking to a live audience. Fred would set up a one-minute moment where he would encourage everyone to reflect on a person who has helped them become who they are. He would describe the people who, as he said, “smiled you into smiling, people who have talked you into talking, sung you into singing, loved you into loving” (Fred Rogers, quoted by Montague, 2020, p. 157).*

There are two components I want to bring out from Fred Rogers’ quote above. The first is that we need space to reflect. The second is that we all need to be encouraged by a person. Life groups are the only platform where both worlds come together in a specific way. In a life group, we will experience space and encouragement. Life groups are the heart of Faith Church, and I want to encourage you to consider signing up for one.

I also want to encourage leaders. Faith Church is always in need of more life group leaders. If you have felt in the past or desire to lead a life group now, it is the time. You may never know the impact on a person’s life if you choose not to take the step to lead. Leading is challenging and, at times, can be the most difficult aspect of life. However, leaders need to be challenged. Therefore, I want to challenge you to take this step and lead a life group at Faith Church.

Remember how the early church started in the Book of Acts?

All the believers devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching, and to fellowship, and to sharing in meals (including the Lord’s Supper), and to prayer.

A deep sense of awe came over them all, and the apostles performed many miraculous signs and wonders. And all the believers met together in one place and shared everything they had. They sold their property and possessions and shared the money with those in need. They worshiped together at the Temple each day, met in homes for the Lord’s Supper, and shared their meals with great joy and generosity—all the while praising God and enjoying the goodwill of all the people. And each day the Lord added to their fellowship those who were being saved (Acts 2:42-47, NLT).

The church began with a small group of people. This small group was gathered by leaders, and they decided to live out the gospel of Jesus together.

Our next life group training is on Tuesday, August 15th, at 6 pm at Faith Church. If you are interested in leading a group, I encourage you to attend. If you would like to sign up to participate in a life group, you can do so through our Faith Church app or website.

Blessings,
